The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation

Lt John 'JT' Thornton RM, from Ferndown, Dorset, was tragically killed, aged 22, in southern Afghanistan on 30th March 2008. He was a very close friend of John Fay MBE.

John lived his dream and died doing the job he loved. The objective of The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) is to encourage and assist young people to 'climb as high as they can dream'. John is a Trustee of this charity. In 2010 it awarded £65,000 in scholarships to talented young people in Dorset. Music, Climbing, Flying, Sports, Writing and many other pursuits were represented at the annual awards. The Charity is also proud to be associated with the Red Arrows who attend the Annual Fundraiser each year in Bournemouth.

The Retail Trust

Retail Trust is the national charity for the retail industry and associated trades. They offer care, support and assistance to people who are working or have worked in retail when they, their partners or their families need it. The Retail Trust's helpline is the gateway to all the Retail Trust's services.  It provides support, information, and access to free counselling and free legal advice. Their aim is to enable retail people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to lead secure and rewarding lives at work, in retirement, at home, and in the community. The Fire Fighters Charity

The charity assists approximately 11,000 beneficiaries every single year, and has recently introduced new initiatives such as Child and Family Therapy programmes, which aim to enhance the quality of life for fire service personnel families who have a child with an illness or disability.  The charity's services cost upwards of £9m per annum to maintain, and these services are financed almost exclusively by the fundraising efforts of the charity.
